The present church, known as the Pinnebog/Grindstone United Methodist Church, was built in 1880, and was known then as the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Meade.
Hand hewn timbers, stone from a nearby field, and the faith of the pioneers went into building our church. At this time, the community of Pinnebog was known as Meade Corners.
As the congregation grew, it was necessary to enlarge the building, and in 1901 a wing was added.
In 1947, it was decided to move the church to the center of the property. Ground was broken for the basement, with an addition made to the back of the church for a choir loft and a side addition for classrooms. New front and back entrances were added. Again, many folks labored in love for God and our church.
Through the years, the church has been beautified with new pulput furniture, pews, carpeting, organ, piano, along with the basement being finished with carpet and the kitchen redone.
For many years, our church had been one of a three point charge that included: The Port Austin United Protestant Church and The Grindstone United Methodist Church. When the Grindstone church had to close their doors, a few years ago, they joined our congregation and thus became the Pinnebog/Grindstone United Methodist Church.
In the past few years, thanks to the money brought in by the sale of the Grindstone Church (which was designated for the building fund), we have been able to add a new lift at the back of the church that takes you from the ground level to the sanctuary and down to the basement. For those who cannot manage the steps, this lift has been a God-Send. We also added air conditioning with these funds. With gifts from members and friends that are put into specially designated funds, and volunteer help, we have been able to put new siding on the front entrance and also purchase a new sound system. We thank all who remember us.
In 2015 we voted to drop Grindstone off our name and now we are once again the Pinnebog United Methodist Church.
We thank all the people who, through the years past right up to the present time, have given of their time and talents to make the Pinnebog United Methodist Church the beautiful little church by the side of the road where all are welcome to come and worship our Lord and Savior.
